Past Indefinite Tense: Education English Blog

Past Tense (অতীত কাল)     Past Indefinite Tense:      যে কাজ অতীতে শুরু হয়ে অতীতেই শেষ হয়েছে,তাকে Past Indefinite Tense বলে।​

Affirmative Sentence:  Subject + past form of main verb + object.​

​Examples(উদাহরণ)  I​

আমি স্কুলে গেছিলাম       -   I went to school.​

আমি ভাত খেয়েছিলাম   -   I ate rice.​

আমি বই পড়তাম            -   I read books.​

আমি গত মাসে চেনায় গিয়ে ছিলাম  

- I went to Chennai last month.​

আমি দুই মাস আগে গিয়েছিলাম  

-   I went two months ago.​

তুমি কাজটি করেছিলে                  

-   You did the job.​

তুমি দুই মাস আগে চেনাই গিয়েছিলে   

-   You went to Chennai two months ago.​

তুমি দুই মাস আগে বাড়িতে গিয়েছিলে  

-  You went home two months ago.​

তুমি এই বইটা পড়েছিলে                          

-   You read this book.​

আপনি ওই বাজারে কেনাকাটা করতেন।  

-   You used to shop in that market.

আমরা বাড়িতে গিয়েছিলাম                        

-   We went home.​

আমরা গত সপ্তা বাড়ি গিয়েছিলাম   

-   We went home last week.​

আমরা দরজা লক করতে ভুলে  গিয়েছিলাম  

-   We forgot to lock the door.​

আমরা পাঁচ মাস আগে সিঙ্গাপুর গিয়েছিলাম    

-   We went to Singapore five months ago.

সে বাড়িতে তালা দিতে ভুলে গিয়েছিল                     

-   He forgot to lock the house.​

তারপরে তিনি একটি গান গাইলেন।                           

-   Then he sang a song.​

পাঁচ মাস আগে সে সিঙ্গাপুরে গিয়েছিল                    

-   She went to Singapore five months ago. ​

সে সেখানে গিয়ে ছিলো তার সাথে দেখা হয়েছিল  

-   He went there and met her.​

সে আগে কাজ করতেন                                                  

-   He used to work.​

তারা গতকাল তাদের কাপড় ধুয়েছিল।                         

-   They washed their clothes yesterday.​

তারা আমাকে কয়েক দিন আগে ফোন করেছিল।     

-   They called me a couple of days ago.​

তারা ওই বাজারে কেনাকাটা করত                                  

-   They used to shop in that market. ​

তারা সবাই মিলে গ্রামে বেড়াতে গিয়েছিলেন               

-   They all went to visit the village together.

Negative sentence: Subject + did + not + present form of the verb + object.​

Examples(উদাহরণ)  I /not​

আমি বুঝতে পারিনি      -   I didn't understand.​

আমি বুঝতে পারিনি আপনি কি বোঝাতে চেয়েছেন       

-   I didn't understand what you meant.​

তারা তাকে সাহায্য করেনি।                                              

-   They did not help him.​

তারা আমাকে কয়েক দিন আগে ফোন করেনি।        

-   They didn't call me a few days ago. 

তারা ওই বাজারে কেনাকাটা করতেন না                       

-   They did not use to shop in that market. ​

তারা গতকাল তাদের কাপড় ধুয়েনি                                

-   They did not wash their clothes yesterday. 

তিনি দরজা লক করতে ভুলবেন না                          

-   She did not forget to lock the door.​

পাঁচ মাস আগে সে সিঙ্গাপুরে গিয়েছিল না           

-   He did not go to Singapore five months ago. ​

তারপরে তিনি একটি গান গাইলেন  না                   

-   Then he did not sing a song Then he did not sing a song.​

সে সেখানে গিয়ে ছিলো তার সাথে দেখা হয়নি   

-   He did not meet her there.

গত সপ্তাহে আমরা বাড়ি যাইনি                                 

-   We didn't go home last week.​

আমরা দরজা লক করতে ভুলে  গিয়েছিলাম না   

-   We did not forget to lock the door.​

আমরা পাঁচ মাস আগে সিঙ্গাপুর গিয়েছিলাম না 

-   We did not go to Singapore five months ago.

আপনি দুই মাস আগে চেন্নাই যাননি                  

-   You did not go to Chennai two months ago.​

আপনি এই বইটি পড়েননি                                    

-   You did not read this book.​

আপনি ওই বাজারে কেনাকাটা করতেন না    

-   You did not shop in that market.​

তুমি পাঠ শেষ করো নি।                                        

-   You did not finish the lesson .
